 Family: Where Our Story Begins

Creole Family Is More Than Blood—It’s Bond, Belonging, and the Stories That Shape Us
In Creole culture, family isn’t just who raised you—it’s who fed you, prayed for you, danced with you, and told you stories under the stars. It’s the aunties and cousins, the parains and marains, the church elders and neighbors who became kin. Our families carry the spirit of who we are and the wisdom of who we’ve always been.
At Bella Creole Life, we celebrate Creole families—past, present, and future—as one of our sacred pillars.

Welcoming the Next Generation

Christie Rachal

Every now and then, something shifts, not in a loud way, but in a way that feels like growth.

Now is one of those moments.

Bella Creole Life has always been about preserving our Louisiana Creole culture, telling our stories, and creating a space where we can connect across generations. And if this work is going to last, if it’s going to matter long-term, it can’t just be my voice.

It has to become our voice.

That’s why I’m so excited to share that my nephews, Drew and Ian,  are officially joining me as part of the Bella Creole Life voices. Drew will be my primary collaborator, with Ian popping in now and again.

You may start hearing them in social media content, sharing their perspectives, their questions, their curiosity, and their understanding of what it means to be Creole today.

And I’ll be honest, that part matters.

Because this isn’t just about looking back.

It’s about making sure the next generation understands what they’re carrying forward.

My goal is to get back to the podcast soon, and when I do, they’ll be right there with me. Asking questions. Challenging ideas. Adding their voices to the conversation in a way that reflects where we are now.

Because culture doesn’t survive by staying still.

It survives when it’s lived, questioned, shared, and passed on.

So today feels like a step in that direction.

A small one, but an important one.

Welcome to the next generation of Creoles working to understand, carry, and preserve our culture.

Welcome, Drew and Ian. Cici is so excited to go on this journey of discovery with you and so proud of your interest in our culture. 🤍

❤️ From Me to You

This is what it looks like when culture continues.

Not just remembered, but lived.

Until next time, cousin—

take care of yourself, take care of your people, and keep living the Bella Creole Life.

With love and intention,
Cici
